AI-Driven Innovations in 6G
Our recent research explores the application of AI in 6G Radio Access Networks, with a focus on user-centric architectures and energy-efficient solutions. This breakthrough paves the way for robust wireless communication systems.

EU-Japan Collaboration Advances 6G Technology
EU 6G-MIRAI and Japan’s HARMONY project are joining forces to contribute to a unified global 6G standard. This collaboration marks a significant step in harmonizing international efforts for cutting-edge wireless solutions.

initial results and next steps
First 6G-MIRAI-HARMONY plenary meeting
On Oct. 20, 2025, the entire consortium has convened for a focused, highly interactive virtual meeting. We reviewed the progress, address open issues, and agreed on the next steps in the project.
The consortium concluded by reinforcing the momentum we have in this challenging research area and highlighting the importance delivering towards the project KPIs in quality and in time, as well as the further coordination with the Japanese HARMONY consortium.
Big thanks to all partners for thorough preparation and active participation !

6G-MIRAI-HARMONY (EU) presenting in JAPAN
AI in 6G air interface keynote at ICETC in Osaka
In Nov. 2025 Adrian Garcia Rodriguez from Ericsson Research France delivered a keynote on the role of AI in the 6G air interface at the International Conference on Emerging Technologies for Communications (ICETC) in Osaka, Japan. The talk summarized the 3GPP standardization developments, Ericsson 6G positions and shared some early results from the 6G-MIRAI-HARMONY project illustrating the performance of an AI/ML physical layer functionality when trained and evaluated with real-world measurement data.

6G-MIRAI-HARMONy: the EU-JP cross-regional 6G research project
EU and Japan reinforce tech and digital partnership
On May 12, 2025 the EU and Japan held their third Digital Partnership Council in Tokyo to reinforce tech and digital cooperation between the EU and Japan. The SNS-JU 6G-MIRAI-HARMONY project is prominently featured in the press release: „the partners agreed to expand their cooperation on beyond 5G/6G research, with a focus on the joint project 6G MIRAI-HARMONY which aims to develop AI powered networks for user-focused communications.“

6G-MIRAI-HARMONY @ EUCNC & 6G Summit 2025
Special Session on Research Collaborations beyond Europe towards 6G
On June 6, 2025, 6G-MIRAI-HARMONY had the opportunity to present both the Japanese (Prof. Nakao) and the European (Dr. Cavalcante) part of the 6G-MIRAI-HARMONY project at EuCNC, and discuss with other projects (NGI Transoceanic, 6GARROW) the specific challenges (e.g., alignment) and opportunities (e.g., societal benefits) for cross-region cooperations.

6G-MIRAI-HARMONY @ AI for Good 2025
ML in Communication Networks workshop
The 6G-MIRAI-HARMONY approach of making the AI native design of 6G air interface and RAN practical and develop reliable and robust AI/ML techniques for both cellular and cell-free networks was presented by Henning Sanneck at the AI for Good 2025 ML in Communication Networks workshop, highlighting our cross-regional EU-Japan approach.
